This weekend, I was finally able to attend my first EUC Masters Retreat after 2 cancellations due to Covid-19.
The event, organized by Steve Greenberg, took place in Scottsdale, Arizona, from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th of April 2022.
A brief overview about what this type of event is Patrick Coble fixing Steve’s car on Thursday before the event starts!!!
This type of event is all about community and sharing. For example, we had the opportunity to discuss on Slack with some specific channels like #travel-plans to share the time of arrival and meet others at the airport.
I landed in Phoenix on Friday morning, met DJ Eshelman, and we shared an Uber to the hotel.
The event officially opened on Friday at 1pm with some Technical sessions.
The first one was provided by the PoSH Master himself, Guy Leech.
Then, the second session was by Denis Gundarev, speaking about Remoting Protocol Performance.
Finally, the third one was Christiaan Brinkohff speaking about some cool things coming around Microsoft Windows365.
We had EUC Community Happy Hour and the Opening Ceremony by Steve Greenberg (the host) welcoming all of us and explaining how the event will operate.
During dinner, we were presented with 3 amazing women: Eva Helen, Patricia Greenberg, and Lise Deguire, who are all authors and shared so much with us during this event.
We finished this first day with a kickoff where everyone was allowed to propose topics for the following days’ sessions.
I really enjoyed how things were done; allowing attending professionals to choose the topics was a really good idea. We had Technical Topics but also other out-side of Tech, which were awesome!!!
One of the topics on Saturday and Sunday was Steve playing guitar for Andrew Wood‘s daughter!
Extra activities:
We had a a lot of fun at a place with Pinballs and an amazing Pong!
On Saturday morning, we had a blast going on a bike ride around Scottsdale!
During our Saturday launch, we were so glad to have a special guest joining us “virtually”: Mr. Mark Templeton himself.
On Saturday night, extra activities provided additional fun, such as flying drones, escape games, TopGolf, as well as dinner with sponsors.
We also enjoyed a local band called “The Waters.”
On Sunday morning, I participated in the Camelback Hike. It was hard but the view was 100% worth it!
Finally, I would like to thank the Sponsors, without which this event couldn’t have happened.
Oh also, sorry I couldn’t say goodbye to everyone when I left Sunday afternoon.
I was so happy and grateful to Steve that I was able to see (sorry if I miss some of you):
