Working on a project for a customer which was on the Cloud for XMS and NetScaler and decide to migrate NetScaler on-premise.

The customer did this choice to be able to provide users access to HDX published Apps and Emails.

It seems to be very easy to do that migration from Cloud to on-premise as Citrix provide a script on the XMS Cloud.

When you connect on XMS Web Admin portal, just go in Settings and click on NetScaler Gateway

After defining your new NetScaler on the console, just click on Export Configuration Script

You will have a NSConfigBundle.zip file containing:

  • 1 Readme file
  • 2 Certificates that will be used for the MAM
  • 1 Script to create the NetScaler configuration
  • 1 Script to delete the NetScaler configuration

The usage of the script is explained in the Readme file.

However when we configure everything and test on XMAnalyzer which result was Green enrollment with Devices failed on the MAM part.

We spent lot of time with Citrix Cloud Team and NetScaler Escalation Team to review and analyze the configuration.

In fact the problem was that the NetScaler Firmware as “too old”, it was version 10.5 Build 57.7005.e.nc.

After upgrading to the same version used on Cloud NetScaler, the problem was solved.

So be careful to verify this point if you have a project from migrating Cloud NetScaler to on-premise, 1st check the NetScaler Firmware on on-premise NetScaler.
