XenMobile: Why do I get “Authorize App”?

MDX Xenmobile

When you first launch a managed secured App on your device, you could be prompted with the following pop-up:

Why do I get this pop-up?

The fact is that since Citrix has released the MDX files directly from Citrix.com you now have 2 options for publishing Secure Apps.

Download directly the MDX from Citrix Web Site or (continue) to download the source files IPA or AKP and wrap those files.

If you look in detail you can see that the size of the files is not the same.

The IPA/AKP downloadable files:

The MDX Files:

The size of each unique App is the following:

Why a such difference?

First of all you need to know that those files are “archives” and so can be unzipped.

For the “Full” version you will have this:

While for the MDX version you will have this:

That’s been said you need to know that, in fact the MDX version is just like a “container” to permit the desired Policy on the Apps.

So in fact, when the user install the Secure Apps, the App is downloaded from the Public Store.

This is why the pop-up appear as the App need to be “managed” to apply policies.

How to avoid this pop-up?

The only way to avoid this pop-up on the 1st launch is to push on the device Secure Apps that you have wrapped with your Apple Enterprise Developer Account.

As you probably know Citrix has released his online platform for wrapping, so you don’t need a Mac (for that) 😉
